April Blog

I am getting a late start on my April blog!  I have been too busy!!

The Tridium and Easter were wonderful events for me.  Liturgies that we do only once a year add a lot of meaning - and are a shot in the arm for me.  But to make them special it takes a lot of work from a lot of people.  Hopefully, those that attended these liturgies were touched in a special way.  Frances de Sales reminds us "Christ's pathway of passion, death and resurrection as personal, it was unique for each person."  How were you touched?

Now during the Easter Season we will celebrate baptisms, First Communions, Confirmations, quinceaneros, and weddings.  The Church is alive with new life!  So many catechists have put in many hours sharing their faith with our children.  I am very grateful - all of us should be grateful - for all they have done to develop and lead our children into a deeper faith.  I am excited about being the one who will "sacramentalize" their growth in faith.

With all the positive energy around the parish, I am reminded of how unpredictable life is with the passing of Ernest Jensen and Dilbert Green.  May they rest in peace.

Have you noticed all the flowers and shrubs in bloom this spring?  I have worked hard and love to see the results of that hard work.  Keep an eye on the grounds as things are beautified and enhanced as a place of welcome and community!

Our Lenten works of charity for the Cooperative Community Ministries, the Shepherds Inn, Homeless Shelter, and Fairgrove Family Resource Center was very generous.  We raised $2,404.50 for the ministries to help make Thomasville a better place for caring for our brothers and sisters.

Well, Apriil is half over, so I will stop for now and get this into print!  In a few  weeks, watch for the May blog.

Father Jim
