Last week was a very interesting week at the Oblates Convocation. In the past, elected delegates from various Oblate Communties would come together, and plan and discuss optionf for the Oblates in general. These twelve men would vote on rules/regulations/ format and plans for the future. They would also elect a new Provincial. Sometime what happens is these men do not vote on topics from the people who elected them.
As early as 2007, the idea came to the floor for a Chapter of the Whole. It has been gaining speed and interest with the Oblates. Each man would have a voice and rules/regulation/format and plans for the future. Then the majority would make the decisions. It has gotten to the point where interest has gained enough ground, that the Oblates are going to have a committee study of the Chapter of the Whole, vote on it next year and, if accepted, it would go into effect in 2012. So, for right now, no changes for my placement for two years! Yeah!!
The summer is quickly flying by! The gardens have been dry, but still blooming and looking good! Of course the weeds continue to grow and bloom as well!
I am going camping for a week - a new adventure for me. I hope the rain holds off, and the temperature cools off. It will be fun to get back to nature and rough it a little. Everything will be covered while I am away!
Vacation Bible School is all set and ready to go! A fun week for the children (July 12-17). Lots of room for more teachers and children.
We are still in the process of the Parish Self Study. Each commission is puttting the final touches on the plan, and hopefully, the study will be complete by mid-August. It has been a long process, but the results will be a more involved parish looking ahead to building for our needs.
You may know that the Spanish Mass is very much overcrowded. As a result, I will be doing 2 Spanish Masses at 12:00 Noon and 2:00 p.m. Primarily, it will solve the overcrowding problem. this will be evaluated in 3 months.
Don't forget to vote for the Stations of the Cross. the choice is between keeping the paintings we have, and a relief withastatues depicting the 13 Stations. Color and depth highlight the proposed. So check out the pictures and vote! each weekend in July we will be voting.
Let us continue to pray and support each other - especially through prayer for travelling and being refreshed on your time away!
