I had a wonderful vacation, filled with family, sun, fun, and of course lots of food! I will have to get back to the gym and watch what I eat for the next few weeks.
August is here, which means it is time to say goodbye to the summer and we need the time to get ready for September.
The Adult Education is still going until the end of August - so it is never too late to learn something to develop your faith.
Another exciting year is planned for Faith Formation. We are expecting 300 plus children and teens in Faith Formation - now is the time to register for the year ahead. By requesting now, books can be ordered, supplies obtained, and begin promptly in September. Don't let your child feel left behind - register now!
Over the summer, the Pastoral Council has been working hard with the Parish Plan required by the Diocese. The first segment has been presented to the Development Offiice of the Diocese, and we are working for approval to continue the process. At the end of this process we will begin talking about a design and model for the possible addition to the Hall and Church. I will keep you posted.
The Stewardship Committee has also been working over the summer on a very short survey for each member of the Community who are 18 years old and above. The purpose is to integrate each member with their time and talents to be involved in a Parish Commission. The Commissions are areas of involvement with the Parish Community - Parish Life, Liturgy, Faith Formation, Outreach, and Ecumentical Outreach. Begin thinking about what time and talents you can bring to the Community.
The last weekend in September is full of activities. the Eucharistic Congress is being held in Charlotte. See the fliers around the Church and Hall for the speakers and topics to enrich your faith. Also on Saturday, September 26th is Everybody's Day in Thomasville. All of the organizations for this city will be respresented on Main Street - with all kinds of food and activities. I will be in the Human Relations Booth - so stop by! Also on Sunday, September 27th is Our Lady of the Highways Feast Day. The Mass will be outside (weather permitting) at 11am (combining 10am and 12:30pm into one Liturgy), followed by lots of food from our multi-cultural Parish. Start thinking of what your national background foods you will prepare to share with the community. The picnic shelter and surrounding tables and chairs is a good way to make new friends with members of the Parish.
So jump in, enjoy the rest of August, and get exctied about September and the coming year!!!!
