RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a process of responding to God’s call to full membership in the Roman Catholic Church. The first phase of this process, Inquiry, explores the scriptures and the individual’s response to God’s call. The second phase of the process, Catechumenate, deals with the development of Catholic theology, history, and traditions. During Lent, another phase prepares the individual for the reception into the church. The final phase, Mystagogy, is the time for the new member and the community to grow in faith and understanding of our continual response to God’s call.
The community is encouraged to participate in this ministry. For part of the process, we need catechists to share our faith with the candidates. We also need sponsors who will act as a personal link between the person seeding full membership and the parish community. The sponsor helps the individual by providing encouragement, answering questions, praying and introducing them to the community.
Individuals are also needed to provide hospitality in a variety of ways throughout the process. If interested, please contact Father Jim Turner at 475-2667.
